Taking your wedding dress abroad
A question that keeps cropping up of concern is about taking your wedding dress abroad. Trying to take it onboard a flight, particularly long haul can prove difficult. Creases, extra hand luggage and extra costs involved are all concerns for the destination bride.
After doing some research it seems the best way is to have your beautiful expensive bridal gown professionally packed by your bridal shop into a special box which you can buy over the internet or your bridal company might supply one. Make sure you watch it being packed in case you need to repack it after customs ask to do a search. If you decide not to do this then whichever airline you fly with will not have time or the inclination to look after your dress. The are special boxes that some airlines supply, again these will go into the hold and thrown around.
Once you arrive and you’re settled in your hotel room the first thing to do is to unpack your wedding dress.
Most destination weddings abroad are in a hot and humid country, great for getting creases out, simply hang up, you can go that one step further and if brave enough run a bath and hang it over the bath for the steam.
Keeping your dress with you as carry on luggage is the safest.
